This is what we call a baseload power plant.
The economics of operating it are such that it pretty much runs day in and day out – 24 hours a day.
It takes four 9000 tone trainloads of low sulphur coal each day to supply the plant.
The coal is pulverized to the consistency of talkom powder before being blown in to the boilers to be burnt to heat water.
That generates steam that has a temperature of a 1000 degrees and a pressure of
3500 pounds per square inch.
This steam is delivered to a turbine – it turns the turbine.
Turbine is attached to a generator.
The generator and the turbine spin at 3600 RPM.
And that generates electricity which we put out on our transmition.
